Karl Hoyt is CEO of Whittemore-Wright Co., Inc. a family owned manufacturer of Tanning Oils for Leather Tanning. Whittemore-Wright Co., Inc. has been operating in Charlestown since 1908, making it one of the oldest businesses in town.

A graduate of Saint John’s Prep in Danvers, class of 1975 and Providence College, class of 1979. Karl received a BS degree in Chemistry and began working for Whittemore-Wright Company in 1980. His first responsibility was to increase International Sales, which then accounted for less than 20% of the companies sales. Karl traveled extensively to Asia, South America, Central America, Europe, and Africa. By 1990 International sales had increased to over 65% and the company was doing business in 48 countries.

Karl has been a resident of Charlestown since 1985 is married with 3 children. His life long love of running had him serving on the board and president of the Greater Boston Track Club in the 1990s, this activity has slowly transferred to cycling but he still takes part in Charlestown’s BGCB 8K road race every year.

Karl became involved in Charleston Business Association in 2000, and has served on its board since then, becoming chairman in 2003 and currently serves as co-chairman.

Karl also serves on the board of the Charlestown Lacrosse and Learning center, where all three of his children are active. Karl has also coached Charlestown Lacrosse teams since 2006.

In his leisure, Karl still enjoys running, mountain biking, sailing, surfing, hiking, camping, squash, and skiing.
